Guide to reporting a Near Miss

Guide to reporting a near miss?

This short guide explains what a near miss is, why reporting matters, and how you can easily let us know if you spot something. By taking a moment to report a near miss, you’re helping keep the College a safer place for everyone.

What is a near miss?

A near miss is an unplanned event that could have caused injury, damage or loss – but thankfully did not. Even though nothing serious happened, it’s important we learn from it to keep everyone safe.

Why should you report a near miss?

Reporting near misses helps the College take action before an accident occurs. It supports a positive safety culture and ensures we learn from what happened so we can prevent it from happening again. By reporting, you’re helping keep yourself and others safe across campus.
