Meningitis
Know the Signs. ACT FAST
Recent reports of a meningitis outbreak in Kent are a reminder of how serious this illness can be.
There is currently no evidence of increased risk in Scotland, but meningitis can affect teenagers and young adults, so it is important to know the symptoms and make sure you are up to date with your vaccinations.
Symptoms can include:
- fever
- headache
- being sick
- stiff neck
- dislike of bright lights
- feeling drowsy or confused
- seizures or fits
- a rash that does not fade under a glass
Symptoms can appear in any order. Not everyone gets all of them.
Think it could be meningitis? Get medical help immediately.
