Childcare Funds
All students may apply for assistance with registered childcare costs regardless whether studying on a full-time or part-time basis. These awards are subject to household means-testing – support cannot be offered where the household income excess £40,000. Please see the following guide for further information:
What does childcare funding include?
- Support with registered childcare costs
- Household income must be less than £40,000
- Weekly expenditure must exceed weekly income
- HE students must have taken out their maximum Student Loan
- Support up to a maximum of £250 per week

Full Time Further Education Students

May be Eligible for | Up to a maximum of £250 per week. Lone parents eligible for a maximum of £1,215 Lone Parent Childcare Grant not means-tested – included in the weekly allowance of up to £250 per week |

Documents Required | Childcare booking form. Child(s) full birth certificate. Partner’s income details if applicable OR proof of lone parent status. Latest Inland Revenue Tax Credit Award Notice OR Universal Credit Notice. Details of any government funded pre-school places |
Full Time Higher Education Students
Household income | Household income must be less than £40,000 |
May be Eligible for | Up to a maximum of £250 per week. Lone parents eligible for a maximum of £1,215 Lone Parent Childcare Grant not means-tested – included in the weekly allowance of up to £250 per week |
Information Required | Completed childcare application Residency Household income Must have taken out maximum Student Loan and be eligible for tuition fees from SAAS Lone parents must have applied to SAAS for Lone Parent Grant up to £1,305 |

Part Time Further and Higher Education Students
Household income | Household income must be less than £40,000 |
May be Eligible for | Up to a maximum of £250 per week Lone parents eligible for a maximum of £1,215 Lone Parent Childcare Grant not means-tested – included in the weekly allowance of up to £250 per week NB– this grant does not apply to part time HE students |

How to apply
Full time students will be sent an email link once you have been offered a place on a course. Part time students should contact either a Student Adviser or a member of the Student Funding Team.
