Active Campus @ DGC

Active Campus offers free inclusive sport and fitness activities for all Dumfries & Galloway College students and staff, plus students from University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and University of Glasgow (Dumfries).

From recreational sports and gym access to relaxed social fitness opportunities, it’s all about getting involved, moving more, meeting others, and feeling part of the campus community.

What’s on?

  • Drop-in Lunchtime sports sessions: Monday to Friday
  • After-college clubs: Mon–Thurs from 4.30pm

Regular activities include Table Tennis, Badminton, Pickleball, Basketball, Boccia, Floor Curling and Football – all abilities welcome!

Check the Active Campus board near the gym and sports hall for times and updates.

As a member of Scottish Student Sport (SSS), DGC also provides students with the opportunity to represent the college and compete against other institutions across Scotland in a variety of sports.

The Workout (Dumfries Campus)

The gym is free for students and staff who belong to any of the three educational institutions on the Crichton Campus – Dumfries and Galloway College, University Of The West of Scotland and University of Glasgow. 

The facility contains a wide range of equipment, including:

  • Cardiovascular zone
  • Fixed Resistance zone
  • Functional Training equipment
  • Strength & Conditioning zone, including a full range of free-weights 

Students and staff at Dumfries & Galloway College benefit from free gym membership and should fill in the community membership form below when applying.

The Sports Hall (Dumfries Campus)

The sports hall is spacious and contains three marked Badminton courts with sufficient space around each to enable capacity activity at all time.

A number of free activities for all students are being run during term time. Check the Active Campus board at Dumfries Campus or our social media channels for more details.

The Ryan Centre (Stranraer)

Studying at Stranraer Campus? The Ryan Centre is right nearby and packed with great facilities including a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam room—perfect for staying active or unwinding after class.

You’ll find a range of fitness classes on offer, from high-energy workouts to relaxed yoga and stretch sessions.

Students can sign up for a Club Active membership for £15 a month.
